In most western countries you can have a civil marriage and even sometimes get married in a christian church.

In islam countries it's a NO NO either way.

As an equal rights issue you should be able to get married anywhere, but at the same time the religious groups have the right to say they don't want to conduct the marriage.

I think that who you want to spend your life with is up to you, no matter what their sex. As it is now, if that person is the same sex as you, they have no rights whatsoever. If they were the opposite sex, you could marry and have all sorts of rights through marriage, from government benefits to inheritance rights. I think what we need to do is have a civil union for all people, then if they want a religious service which is a wedding, that's their business. That keeps the government out of the religion business, which is how the Constitution was set up in the first place.

No, because who decides what is and what isn't a "human right". The record so far since "human rights" has been in the political psyche has been abominable.

I suppose if you are a sexual deviant or a criminal it would be applauded by those in that condition, however to the vast majority of the normal population it is a travesty against their "moral rights".

Pedophilia is a sexual favor felt by ability of an grownup for little ones, or the crime of sex with a baby. that's not portion of being “gay.” we ought to always start up recognizing and allowing “gay marriage” because we've an information of what being “gay” easily ability. human beings are born “gay” - no longer made. Marriage comes with dedication (in spite of the undeniable fact that that could replace later, because it does in heterosexual marriages each of the time) and it comes with particular criminal rights. What has been finished in the time of historic previous won't be able for use as an excuse because “historic previous” has continually denied equivalent rights to multitudes of persons and diverse communities of human beings. we received't stay in the previous. we've grown in information and information a procedures previous even one hundred years in the past. Human rights aren’t some thing to be doled out in accordance to our prejudices. tremendous parts of blood were shed to receive them. we received't now bypass back and use historic previous to justify persevered “judgment” of human beings. You, me and an excellent purchase of human beings wouldn’t have “rights” at present, if we did that.

Don't know about the US, but EU charter of human rights lists the right to a family life - and marrying who you want is family, so yeah, I guess.

I don't see what the big deal is, myself. It's not as though they go round in vans kidnapping and press ganging vulnerable people into a gay marriage, is it?

No, I dont believe it is a human rights issue....

I do, however, believe that it is a equal rights issue....and a freedom issue.....

If we believe in equal rights for all people....and equal freedom for all people...than all people should be allowed to marry who they choose to......PERIOD.

There is no mention of marriage in the constitution and the 9th and 10th amendments state that all powers not explicitly given to the government are not theirs to take.....including regulating marriage...they have no right.

I'd say yes. Everyone who is against love is breaking the human rights. Love is the purest and most powerful thing there is and you have to look after it. You can't stand in the way of love, if you do it will only cause bad things. War is basically a lac of love..
Make love not war^^

Whats the big deal in getting married, if you believe in God, then its a sin, and most heterosexual couples are avoiding marriage, Is this just another attack by minority groups trying to press an issue, rather than a real desire ?

If it is a human right issue, that isn't a man marrying multiple wives a human rights issue also? After all if he has one wife and she agrees that he can have another, isn't that breaching their human rights to refuse this?

No, Marriage is the union between a man and a woman.

Gay couples should be allowed to enter into Civil Partnerships which permit them the same rights of inheritance etc, as heterosexual couples. But they shouldn't be allowed to 'marry'
