I would suggest that you bring your birth certificate with you when crossing the border along with your drivers license. I know that you are not required to have a passport unless you are traveling into Mexico via air travel. For more information you can go to the Customs and Border Patrol website http://www.cbp.gov/

Hope this helps and have a great trip!

at this time you only need you drivers license to cross the border. According to the Western Travel Initiative you will need a passport for driving on January 1st 2008. Make sure if you drive you purchase Mexico Insurance, which is mandatory.

My hubby & I go to TJ & back all the time, we only use our drivers License to get back into the US. As long as you're a US citizen & speak english you shouldnt have a problem.

Both my hubby & I were born in the US but are Mex-Amer. & we've never had a problem crossing the border with our driv. license.
