Yes, back then he would of, he was a one of a kind player, even though a lil undersized for his position, he had a lot of heart (Pardon the expression) and could have been the next Charles Barkley.

Hank was talented but its well documented that LM didnt play defense just ran the sneakers off opponents, and not nearly as good as Len Bias would have been (very talented player from the successful Maryland program who ODed after getting drafted by Boston) had he lived and developed at all...both very sad stories

Hank Gathers would have barely made it in the NBA. He was the recipient of the high scoring run and gun offense in Loyola Marymount that inflated his stats. His college teammate who got drafted by the NBA, Bo Kimble, didn't last a year or two in his NBA career.

hank was a great shooter but Loyola Marymount basically wore
the other team down with their up pace running style "run & gun"
offense. it wasn't layups either . they would pull up for the 3 ball
just about as often. but for what they gained on offense they
gave away on "d". i don't think his skills would have carried him.

No. The best thing that happened to him was dying b/c now people are speculating as to whether he would have been a good pro. If he survived he would have flopped in the NBA.

I don't think so. He was good, but there were better players in that age that would have overshadowed him. He would have help Boston, without a doubt, but I feel he would have been like a Sam Perkins. Okay, but not worth the hype.

No. He would have made a decent pro, but not a superstar.
