I have 512 RAM and used to play WoW. It was pretty slow though. Usually 10 to 12 fps, and down to 0.5 (!) in cities. I stopped playing before BC came out, maybe it needs more RAM, with the "standard" WoW there were no installation problems. If it happens before you try installing BC, it may be that it isn't the main RAM which isn't enough, but the RAM on your graphic card, look at the message next time and/or post what graphic card you have.
For playing, I'd recommend you get another 512 RAM so you will have a gigabyte (make sure you get advice for that, you have to buy a module which is compatible with your old one and it is not easy to know which will do and which won't). My ex-guild leader had a system with 2 gig and he told me that the game still froze in cities while loading information.
If you are stuck with your 512 and get the game running somehow, make sure you only have as few addons as possible, they all eat a lot of RAM.

You probably have enough RAM to at least play the game. But it will definitely help a lot if you get a RAM upgrade. I had 512mb when I first started playing the game and the lag was pretty bad. I upgraded to 1gb of RAM and the difference was astounding. The game runs so much smoother now. So if I were you I'd consider a memory upgrade too.

yea, international of warcraft require alot of ram, i recommand which you have a minimum of 1gb ram to play this form of interest. 2gb would be best. in case you insist setting up wwr with 504 ram, it may not have good high quality, constantly lagging.

The requirement is actually 512MB--just tell it to install anyway, I run it on my computer with 256MB, hehe. :-)
