Do they think about a new life after or do they like the settled wife or g/f ? Do they plan ahead for the change of kids leaving the nest?

I think about the future. When my kids are independent I intend to spend my time with my wife doing all the fun things we would have done before kids had we had the cash and opportunity - travel the world, etc. It wouldn't be a "new life", just different, and with the same life partner I've been with for the past 18 years.

I would say that in general, no. Men don't think about their future after kids are grown. By the looks of half the questions in here, men can't even look past the girl they brought home and had sex with! Much less what will happen in 20 years when that kid is old enough to move out!

It ended all too soon when she passed. Must start a new life.
