Though it is a pertinent question, tragically it is so. The tendency of human mind is to seek always change. The routine things brings discontent in the mind. Hence the mind seeks always new things. If we are really aware of our rich culture, traditions and religion we will not seek others. In the Bagawat Gita it is said, Righteousness is to always follow ones own dharma rather than copying others. Hope things will change in due course. It is pertinent to note here that more number of westerners are coming to India to seek spiritual truths and in quest of spiritual masters. nagarajan.

Excuse me, but where do you live? If you live in India, you will see that Indians do NOT copy the western culture in everything. Maybe a thing here and there, but hardly everything, just as Western culture adops a few things from India. In addition, Indians who live abroad in the West very often keep many Indian traditions in their daily lives. I know because I have seen such a thing.

It is a wrong notion you are having . Indians do not blindly follow western culture in everything . The good things from west if absorbed in our culture , makes it richer . There is no harm in it. This is done by all the religions and cultures of the world . Only , this is to be done by the experienced and wise men of any culture, religion or tradition .
The youth on the other hand , in any society , tries to be a rebel . They conceive that breaking the tradition is a "cool thing" to do. This way they try to attract attention to themselves and they do that experimentation which is done by each generation . This also ultimately makes ones traditions richer by these trial and errors and improvisations.

Everyone likes to adopt the path of least resistance. Western culture with its shallow roots( often gnarled) presents a glossy picture & the average Indian like an innocent child grabs at it not knowing that he shall be slowly sucked into the mire of ill gotten wealth, drugs & cheap fashion. Very often or not, by the time realization dawns it is too late to retrace his path.Education properly imparted with moral attributes is the only plausible solution to erase this mirage.

Because everyone in the whole world is copying western culture now, very few cultures are without the influenced. I'm sure that even the tribal Asian and African people that you see on "Tribal Life" and other such shows are exposed to Western Civilization, especially since there's always cameras over there, I'm sure they've learned something.

Cuz stupid colonisers have installed conditioned reflexes in the minds of the natives. So anything western equals superior. India has a wonderful culture and if only the people would realise that.

there r 2 ppl to b blamed here. firstly, parents or elders(youths also). we have the responsibilityof teaching our children about indian culture and also about its beauty n spiritual significance.but even we do not take the the effort to know about it. 2ndly, individuals who don't have Self Confidence.to them being accepted by others is very important. so to them foolowing western culture makes them more popular. this should not be the case.we should be proud of our culture, yet not b fantical about it n claim superiority
