the weather should be lovely, Western Europe has varying weather however, for example, the UK and Ireland will undoubtably have rain at least once a fortnight, which i personally think is nice. spain, italy and portugal are likely to be much hotter and more dry, the average temp in the uk in August is about 28 - 30 degrees (f) , however Spain etc could reach 38 - 40 degrees (f). again, this really depends on how far north or south you go

The weather depends on where you go.

Stockholm averages 15-20 C (about 60-70 F) in those months where Barcelona is 10 to 15 degrees or warmer.

Where to visit? Where not to visit? London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam etc etc etc - how much time do you have?

Usually fantastic. Not the heat of July, but dry, beautiful long lasting days and warm evenings.
September is harvest time, so expect to enjoy delicious fruits, wines and other delicacies.
However, since the climate is a bit 'off', don't hold me to this :)
Theoretically you've chosen the best time of the year.
