When connecting the Wii to a wired network, you need:
-The Wii ethernet adapter
-A router or switch (only use a switch if you have a separate DHCP server). The Wii cannot work connected directly to a modem.

You will need to:
-Connect the Wii to the Ethernet adapter. I don't have one so I can't guide you through it, but I'm assuming the thing comes with pretty basic instructions (it's Nintendo, after all). I'm guessing it uses one of the USB ports.
-Connect the Ethernet adapter to the router using Cat5e network cable (straight through/patch, do not use a crossover cable).
-Turn on the Wii and test the connection in the Wii system menu. Again, I'm sure the instructions will explain this in simpler, step-by-step terms.

You do not need any keys or codes. WEP/WPA is only needed when connecting via a secured wireless network (hence WIRELESS Encryption Protocol).

whilst connecting the Wii to a under pressure community, you pick: -The Wii ethernet adapter -A router or swap (gold standard use a swap you in all probability have a separate DHCP server). The Wii are actually not waiting to paintings suitable directly to a modem. you'll want have been given to: -connect the Wii to the Ethernet adapter. I wouldn't have one so i'm unable to handbook you via it, inspite of the undeniable fact that i'm assuming the article comes with suitable simple guidelines (this is Nintendo, inspite of each and every little thing). i'm guessing it makes use of between the main USB ports. -connect the Ethernet adapter to the router using Cat5e community cable (quickly via/patch, do not use a crossover cable). -swap on the Wii and attempt the relationship interior the Wii equipment menu. returned, i'm beneficial the regulations will provide an evidence for this in much less complicated, step-via-step words. you do not choose any keys or codes. WEP/WPA is barely needed whilst connecting by using way of a secured wireless community (to that end wireless Encryption Protocol).

i think if you are connecting it with wires you will need to get the adapter for it. if you dont have a router then you should just connect the wire from the modem to the wii.
