Does anyone know how many dogs and cats there are in the UK , or does anyone know where I can get this info online ?

Pets:
Official estimate put the UK dog population at 6.7 million in 2000, and we also own around 9 million cats. In 2002, a report from MORI suggested the stray dog population had increased to around 117,500. The number of strays being put to sleep after the statutory seven day period was approximately 12,900 a year, or about one in 10 of all stray dogs. This is equivalent to 250 every week.

Last I heard, there were about 7.5 million cats and 7 million dogs.
