You are changing the whole concept of discovery. It was not Mahatma Gandhi, or Vasco Da Gama, or Tipu Sultan. You cannot neglect the fact that discovery is the term described to something that existed but came into our knowledge later. Discovery of India would date back to thousands of years. Aryans were here far before these people. Dravids were here even before Aryans. India was not discovered by a single person, but by a whole community.
All the best...

Human beings have been living in India since the Stone Age.
So, how could someone 'discover' the 'landmass' of India anew when people were already living there!
But, if you mean the person who established the concept of India as a 'nation' in the minds of its people, it can not not be definitely said. For there was always a sort of 'Unity In Diversity' here, as famously remarked by 'Vincent Smith'.
Or, if you mean to say to whom the credit of discovering the modern state of 'Republic Of India' belongs to, that also cannot be definitely said as no one person was responsible. Independence was achieved through the untiring efforts of the 'Extremist Revolutionists', 'the Indian National Congress', 'the various regional organisations' , 'the great educationists' and 'the artistic talents'. Some credit also goes to The 2nd world War which devastated the British economy.
Such questions are truly idiotic and absurd.
