Tom and Jerry were originally created as cartoon shorts for the cinema in the 1940s. Since then several hundred shorts have been created for our viewing pleasure.

However it is a little difficult to tell what might be considered an episode. For example the more recent Tom and Jerry episodes are around 15 minutes long, but made up of 3 seperate segments. Below I've put the rough order in which they were released by episode.

For example, Tom and Jerry Tales (Warner Bros.era) is made up of approx 78 segments, but they were shown 3 at a time, which would make 26 episodes.

Hanna-Barbera era (1940–1958) - 114 episodes

Gene Deitch era (1960–1962) - 13 episodes

Chuck Jones era (1963–1967) - 34 episodes

Second Hanna-Barbera era (1975–1977) - 48 episodes

Filmation era (1980–1982) - 30 episodes

Turner Entertainment era (1990–1994) - 55 episodes

In 2001 and 2005 there were two special edition episodes of Tom and Jerry made.

Warner Bros. era (2006–2008) - 26 episodes

There have also been 7 straight to DVD movies. These are...

Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring (2001)
Tom and Jerry: Blast off to Mars (2005)
Tom and Jerry: The Fast and the Furry (2005)
Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers (2006)
Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale (2007)
Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes (2010)
Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz (2011)

So in total that would be 322 episodes and 8 movies
