ive got a dell inspiron 8100 and ive just bought a wireless router does any1 know if my pc is wireless enabled cant seem to see a slot to put 1 of them cards in thanks people

start ,settings ,network connections will have two choices wireless or lan or local area,also check in device manager i'm on dell inspirion and mines wireless,

start settings control panel then system click on hardware tab and then device manager then look at network adapters you are looking for dell wireless if its there u have wireless

dont have wireless dont panic about a card you can buy wireless dongles that fit in the usb port :)
wireless is on my inspriron but a pc i have didn't have wireless and we have wireless on it through a usb dongle connection so thats would do u ok.

All u need is a spare slot whether it be ISA or PCI ones.. but if u asked me i dont see any good reason to put in a wireless card in ur pc in the first place. U better off putting one in ur laptop instead. Then again, it ur choice so do w/e pleases ya. You will also know how to properly configure ur router most especially the wireless part of it, to avoid ppl from hacking or surfing ur internet or worst yet, ur pc for free. Cheers!

no its not you need either a USB adpabter thats wireless enabled or a PCI Card that fits in side the computer that fits in side the Pci card slot, then install the software driver for usb adapter that all

Are you sure that the card for your laptop is a PCMCIA card. Some dells do not have that slot any more

I don't believe it is sadly, but you can insert a minipci card underneath. Check the source below.

just call thevendor and ask him if ur laptop already have the wireless
