I played NBA live and simply loved it.
It's fun and easy to understand.
The players are realistic and you can build up your own team.
As for 2K, some people say it's a really good game, but I haven't tried it yet.
On ps2 though, Live wasn't that good. I suggest you rent both to see by yourself, many opinions differ on that.
Personally, I was going to buy NBA live but since some people told me 2K was aso really nice, I'm gonna rent it to see before buying either one of them.
But if you look at the reviews, 2K seems to have a little advantage over NBA live. The realism of the players and their playing skills is just awesome.
I heard Marion's shot looks as ugly as in real life and that Jason Kidd was blowing kisses at the free thrown line.

2k is much better than NBA Live. 2k is more realistic, has better player faces and models and the game play itself is just flat out better. Don't believe these EA fan boys that say Live because 2K's units moved are toppling Live's by 50%. No one plays Live anymore and the numbers show this. The reason the NBA would not give EA the NBA license like the NFL did is because of the rapid decline in Live's sales figures. There is a reason for that. People lie, numbers don't so buy NBA 2k7 and completely overlook Live.

Honestly, dont make the same mistake I had, CHOOSE NBA LIVE!!!
I spent 20 hard-earned bucks on 2k7 only to find out that it pretty much sucks. It is dang too easy, when you block a shot it looks lame, people sometimes make freaky-looking layups that do not look like professional made ones. And it is too boring, no challenge whatsoever. That's why I switched to playing Live 2005 (my fave game) after about two weeks.
Then I bought NBA live 2007 two weeks ago, it was good. PLUS THEY HAD AN NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND. And you should hear the tracks, I like the song "Work It Out" there. Seriously, choose live. It may be about 10 or so bucks more expensive, but its worth it.

NBA 2k9 hands down. Been taking part in the 2k sequence for the reason that Espn NBA 2k5 on Xbox and it become nonetheless extra useful than NBA stay so i might surely get NBA 2k9 yet Xbox 360 would have extra useful pix than a PS3

As a gamer myself, I would prefer the products endorsed by Ealectronic Arts. They are good at what they do. Very excellent graphics, realism, and the moves of the players themselves are what you see in the game. ESPN series is not bad, too. I just think their players are too waxy. 2K7 is great, but not as good as NBA Live. I didn't like the PS2 version of 07, though. The controls got too complicated.

im was an EA gamer, and 2k is way better... its alot more realistic than live... unlike live 2K actually requires you to have a strategy to win... live i could sit back and shoot all day with Kobe... 2K actually challenges especially when you save your profile and you can actually play against it which picks up your tendencies

I have played both,
I own 2k7 and rented Live
And I freakin love 2k7 its a great game way more balanced and realistic than live.
