My husband is interested in going to Louisiana to help in the rebuild. He's a flooring contractor, but so far he hasn't been able to find any information on how to go about going down there. Does anyone know if there are there any websites or contact people he can get in touch with?
Thank You.

Is he going to" help " with the rebuilding ? Or is he going there to "profit "from the rebuilding? there are two different agencies you have to contact . One Is The State contractors board , if you are going there to try to work under your company name. The other is the carpenters union ! They take a mighty dimm view of "scabbs" coming in to profit off of thier misfortune , and under cutting thier rate or in the case of Louisianna over charging for thier services and "Profiteering".
I'm not saying that is what your husband is doing but those are the 2 organizations he should contact. Oh ! and the feds are involved in the rebuild also so he should check about fed permits or guide lines also.

Habitat for Humanity has been working in the Gulf Coast for the last 18 months through a program called Operation Home Delivery. Their 700th home began construction in January, with another 300 planned by mid-summer. You can read about it in the link below. Contact your local affiliate.
