You should first decide on your budget & the LCD monitor size. Once done, see if any store has attractive buy-back offers for your old monitors. Many do have such offers. You must check various models under different light conditions & by adjusting the brightness/contrast & using different software to ensure you are buying what you are looking for. Finally, make sure you get the proper warranty assurance, invoice etc.

Dont buy an LCD monitor
Buy a TFT bonitor which have 178 degree viewing angle.
To replace a monitor, no need to remove/replace any other hardware except the monitor, windows will automatically take any monitor it takes, but sometimes you have to install the driver that comes with the monitor.

Go to a store with a lot of LCD's on display. Pick the one with the best picture and then shop the price. The monitor will plug into your video card. Make sure that it has a VGA plug for maximum compatability.

Samsung products are one the best at present. These are avaialable in different sizes such as 15", 17", 19" etc. and price goes up as per the size. TFT monitors are better than LCD and not much expensive.
For installation you have to remove the old monitor and connect the new monitor as per the installation guide, it will automatically install itself , provided you are using windows

Well u should look in your price range LCD's have come down dratically over the years I recently saw a 22" widescreen i think it was 290 USD.
If u are a gamer u would probably want a screen with a response time below 5ms.
But if u just do normal work then a plain moniter should suffice.

1st to put an LCD monitor you need to have the proper graphic accelerator or card, low-end motherboards with onboard graphics do not support LCD monitors they have to have a special port known as a DVI port. in case u have a low end mother board with on board grahics i sugest buying a new graphic card..
pls specify ur mother board PC config and Budget and what do u want to use da monitor for gaming or normal use??

Obviously you have to dispose the older one - either exchange it for a new LCD or sell it to a friend. Samsung LCD is by far the best; then come Viewsonic and LG.
