If you copy some documents, images, songs, movies etc from C drive/partition to either to another partition D, E etc if there are any, or copy them to cd/dvd and then delete them off from the C drive/partition. That should solve the problem.

YES, you are out of disk space!
You can use several tools like clean, defrag, compress hard disk to gain some space but you will this issue keep coming every few weeks unless if you remove large amount of files. The best cost effective way is to add internal/external hard drive or just replace with new bigger disk.

Yes, or you need to remove built up junk on your hard drive. In internet explorer go to Tools>Internet Options and in the browsing history section click on the delete button and delete your old files and cookies. Then click on the settings button and reduce the disk space to use to around 100 MB. Then download the following program http://www.ccleaner.com/ and use it at least weekly to clean up junk build up on your computer. I would also suggest looking at Clean Cache http://buttuglysoftware.com/ is very useful for refreshing your system.

In addition in my computer right click on your C drive and select properties. Click on the tools tab and do an error check and defragment your hard drive.

These steps should take care of your error message but you should start shopping for an upgrade for your hard drive.

Update: Removing programs is hardly a solution, your just going to need to remove more programs a week or two later, then you will be trying to delete parts of windows operating system. That isnt a solution, its just a short term band aid..... Check out some hardrive upgrades......there getting really cheap.....

Windows might object if oyu try to install it on a different hard drive, so you could buy an external hard drive and use it to store and back up your data.
Uninstall any programs you don't need, and delete old files.
Then run Ccleaner, use the Issues tool, then the Cleaner. Then use the Tools - startup tab to cut down the programs that load on startup. Leave Windows and your security software.

Then defragment your hard drive from Start - programs - accessories - system tools - disc defragmenter. Leave the machine while it runs.

hmmm yes you don't have much space left.. try deleting any unwanted files / programs .. go to add / remove programs in the control panel and un-install the ones you don't need.... alternatively you could buy an external hard drive with you can plug into a USB port you can find some good prices on ebay.

That`s your choice. You can purchase an external HD. Or as you say purchase another HD.
You might have software on your PC that you very rarely use, if they are of no importance either back them up onto disc or delete them.
Eventually over time your HD will lose space.

not necessary,
take a external backup of the data which you are not using for long time in your HDD to a dvd or cd , will frees your memory, or if it is less data and the error message you got, then try to defragment your disk
