Present universe is bound to have four dimensions which every being dwell in. Three space and one time. Fortunately or unfortunately each one is not depending on the other. If you move to your house by walk along x axis your watch is going to run with the speed with which it would if you walk along Y or Z axis. We can go front and back in x,y and z but not back in time.

well... this is what we observe
travelling in time should be ruled out by the laws of physics, and in fact it is.
travelling forward, by trying to reach the speed of light seems to be the only way tricking around .
travelling back seems to be completly impossible.

At least for objects who are bound to the classic laws of physics. There are interesting findings in the world of quantumn physics showing that particles below the planck scale can indeed travel back and forth in time. Even classic laws do not really forbid it.
An often mentioned possible method was the concept of a wormhole which theoretically allows to travel back and forth in time.
Unfortunatly it was shown that such a passage could not be hold open long and wide enough to allow an object of conventional size to pass through.
Experiments have already shown the ability of light to travel faster than the speed of light.. to be exact: it was shown that light can sneak or tunnel through space under specific conditions.
So scientists gulped and thought about ways to pass information that way and it was shown that light can do, but information of any sort can't ... now what...?

i bet it'll take like 50 more years to possibly figure about WIMPS/Dark matter and possible other dimensions where those exotic things might emerge from ..
possible other so called 'branen' where something is hidden in the fabric of the universe.
I think one can say that there are indications that there's still something to discover, but there are also indications that we are near the point where we finally figured how god is throwing dices....
give it 50 years for the theory, and another 50 years for useful spinoffs from the findings.. that is what i would say

The most we could possible see could be an afterimage.

If, for example, we learn to fold space and appear near Centauri and point a radio at the Sun and send a voice message and then we fold space and return to Earth, you would be able to hear your own message in 4.5 years.

Thus you would "travel back in time" in form of an after image.

But this is only a form of Deja Vu.

It's like viewing a home movie and reliving your child hood in your mind. IT's an illusion, not real.

yes this was just discovered only very recently. it's a big shocker.

they are pulling star trek: deep space nine off the air because of it, and the "back to the future" series is being banned in new york.

You can't travel back and forth in time as you can in the spatial dimensions. Haven't you noticed that?
