Hello...whenever there is a thyroid problem, pituitary tests should be done to rule out that it is stimulating the thyroid correctly. The fact that you have gained weight quickly especially in the tummy could be signs of low cortisol, no interest in sex signs of low testosterone, depressed and tired signs of low growth hormone....you have a lot of symptoms of pituitary malfunction and all hormones need to be tested for hypopituitarism.

Always test TSH in the morning. As far as the TSH test, make sure its no higher than 1.0 in the morning. For if its higher weight loss will be extremely difficult and you may even gain weight. Myself, I hate the TSH test. I believe the free t3 and free t4 are much better tests.

If after getting your TSH to around 1.0 you do not feel any better, I suggest thinking about trying a natural thyroid medication like Armour.

I started out on Levoxyl. It gave me a perfect TSH, but it did nothing for the symptoms. Eventually I got on Armour thyroid and I feel so much better.

The key to this condition is research. The more you know the better and you can speak out for what you want. Below are some thyroid links.

As far as diet, reduce carbs. We have a more difficult time processing them. Join an exercise thyroid group like posted below. That may help too.

Pls see about getting to an endocrinologist. They can best help you figure out the right medicine combination for your thyroid problem. They will also run the rest of the thyroid panel (there are 7 tests total to this panel) to make sure that you don't have something else like Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
