I have an x60 lenovo laptop. The problem is that whenever I try to connect to the internet (or to another computer) using the built-in wifi, a few minutes (around 5) after it has established connections, it gets disconnected.

I have to connect several times, and also try different ways to connect before I can have a stable connection.

Is there a problem with the hardware, or is it just because the settings are not properly set yet.

This could be as simple as signal level from your wireless provider. I take it this is connecting to YOUR wireless router and not someone elses. (in which case they could be kicking you off) If it is your local system be sure you are getting a good signal from the router - you should see the level once connected.

If low level is the problem you can add better antennas on the router or even adding a wireless repeater between the router and your Lenovo. If everything there is fine, check to see if there is an updated driver from IBM.
