i wear a good foundation - a good mascara (revlon) and a cheapie kind of eyeliner- i'm not sure who is the guilty party but often after about 2 hours there is dark black smudges under my eyes..(the racoon look) which product is most likely to blame and what is the solution?

Well, here is a question

Do you put your eyeliner on the top ridge of your eye and the bottom?

If you put it on the bottom as well then it is probably your eyeliner.

I also suggest that you buy waterproof mascara. All brands have them and to quickly tell them apart they usually come in the lighter blue or silver container, but it is always written on the packet. Its a little harder to get off at the end of the day but you will never get raccoon eyes and if you use a good cleanser it should be fine.

I also suggest upgrading your eyeliners to the Revlon or equivalent level. The lowest I go is Maybeline. And that's not being snobby, I just think the brands cheaper than that just aren't reliable and wear off so easily and the colours just aren't as good.

Perhaps ur mascara isnt water proof? That can cause smudges too.If all else fails, put on the eyeliner only & see if it runs within 2hrs.If not,its prolly the eyeliner. It cant be the foundation. It must be either the mascara or the eyeliner. Also, if u are wearing those 2, dont rub ur eyes, that can cause it too.Good Luck!

if youre using a non waterproof mascara i will i think its your mascara. cause when you blink your eye lashes touched the eye bag part( im not sure whether its called the eye bag part. lol the part which is below your eye) , the eye bag part normally produces oil/sweat so leaving some shades of black underneath your eyes.. maybe when youre free you can try wearing eye liner only and see whether they smudge after hours. just try one of them. if eyeliner doesnt smudge, it must be your mascara. same to the other way round.

I haven't tried revlon mascara before, but if you use a waterproof mascara (i use maybeline volume express waterproof) it doesn't smudge much if at all. However, eyeliner(esp pencil) smudges alot. It seems to be better if you put abit of powder or eyeshadow over it, or use liquid eyeliner, which seems to hold much better.

Do u tend to rub your eyes? I do.. n it happens to me... Use a waterproof mascara n a liquid eyeliner. That really helps.. I think the maybelline expert liner is quite good.. it doesn't smudge.

i would say its probably your eyeliner...some cheaper brands tend to smudge throughout the day. i use one from covergirl, and it smudges slightly but not as bad as some do. if your mascara stays slightly wet, it might be a combo of the two. i would suggest switching your eyeliner and seeing what happens, if you still get smudges then its the mascara.
