I work in a veterinary practice so hence a love animals.
One of the vets who works there has now said he's going to need to bring his 3 dogs in daily and will let them have the run of the staff room because his wife is now out at work all day. I dont mind dogs in fact I think they're great but I dont want a labrador, shihtzu and smelly old cocker with ear problems slathering on me whilst I eat my sandwich. I voiced my concerns and he said I was being selfish. Am I being unreasonable to expect a relaxing hour,
Ps his dogs aren't trained well and take to weeing and pooing on the floor and jump up.

I think you are being reasonable. Bringing your dogs to work is okay if they are well behaved, but if they are disruptive in a doggy way is bad.

If your colleague has to bring them in, couldn't they go in the holding cages for most of the day?

A lady I used to work with used to bring her Spaniel to work - he was VERY well behaved (he had been coming in since he was a puppy) and looked forward to lunchtimes when he could have some fresh air and do his business outside. We worked in a Solicitors and the clients loved having a dog around, especially when they were talking about something that upset them.

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. You really need somewhere that you can go to have your breaks. Are there any other rooms you could use? (like a meeting room or something?). I think the vet in question is the one being selfish. What do your colleagues think? I wouldn't like it that is for sure!
