(when he's on land)?... something either related to his boss, with his colleagues, difficulties, personal problems, etc.?

(please and thank you!)

My neighbor is a pilot for United and he could give you an earful. There are many good and bad points to being a commercial pilot for an airline. Some of the bad points are:

1. Slow promotions due to strict seniority rules.
2. Crazy schedules that keep you traveling at odd times (including holidays).
3. Depending on the type of aircraft, it can be hard to get the takeoffs and landings to maintain your rating.
4. Boring, repetitive work.

Some neutral points are:

1. Lots of ongoing training and testing.
2. Pilots now go through some level of security screening.

Some positive points:

1. Little or no interaction with the boss.
2. Chance to travel extensively at no cost.
3. Good pay, even with recent cutbacks.
4. Captains get respect.
5. If you're a single guy, there's a chance to interact with a lot of women. If you're a married guy, there's a chance to interact with a lot of women. If you're a woman, there are lots of men who are pilots, so you have many possibilities from which to choose.

Those are all I can think of... hope that helps!
