Comedy is the alter ego of Democracy! Have you ever seen comedy flourishing in authoritative regimes? If it does is only to resist and fight the regime.
Comedy is the barometer of freedom in a country.

no.. i do not believe it can
i believe shows like the daily show and colbert report do nothing for this country and the issues we face.. sure they entertain us, but they also help to distort the reality of the world around us
our country and world faces many serious problems. if we want to laugh we should find something else to laugh about
