A watermelon

Its a British film, so I can assure you it wasn't a watermelon! It was a marrow. If you don't know what one of those is, is kind of like a giant courgette (which I think is called a zucchini in the US). My mum used to cook marrow when we were kids - yuk.

Zucchini - also known as a 'marrow' in England. They tell you it's a marrow in the director's commentary on the DVD.

PS - the inside of watermelon isn't green, people!
