The best is the greatest one you can afford. Macs are now basically pretty-looking PC's since they now use Intel chips. However, only a pure Macintosh can run the efficient and user-friendly Mac OS 10 operating system. Having a Mac is currently like owning the best of both worlds. Using Apple's Boot Camp software, you can run Windows XP or Vista alongside Mac OS 10.4 or 10.5. If money is a consideration, there are plenty of used Powerbooks and iBooks, and budget model IBM-compatible laptops. When buying a PC, keep in mind that Sempron and Celeron chips are inferior to AMD64, Turion64, Pentium, Centrino, Core Solo, and Core Duo. Don't be fooled by the low price, they may be a poor value.

Well... lately mac's have begun to overrun PC's. They now have intel processors which are the same as what pc's carry. And there are multiple software titles that allow you to run Windows on a mac if that's what you want. Mac's have no viruses as compared to PC's which cost users hundreds of thousands a year in Antiviruses, computer repair, or replacement. If you do intend to stick with the Mac operating system, Mac OS X you shhould know ahead of time what applications you plan on running, because not every program is capable of running on a mac. (especially if you intend to be a gamer)

a "desktop replacement". Its wider than regular laptops but it has a wide screen of course. The best part is it uses desktop parts so if something goes wrong you don't have to buy your parts only from the manufacturer....you have a choice...its no longer cheaper to replace the whole thing lol! Your manufacturer (Dell, hp, gateway) would charge more to replace the motherboard than to buy a whole new laptop as the parts of a regular notebook are integrated (all ONE PART) for the exception of your graphics card and LCD screen. Keep your choices open. Apple also has a similiar notebook available.

Seeing how all new PC's are coming with VISTA which is overly unstable, and based off MAC's O.S.
I would definitely say a MAC.
More stability, less virus spyware.
Plus if you wanted you could put a windows O.S. on it.
