If pitta dosha becomes excess, periods come early. Thus eating hot food, hot spices, staying awake late night, moving in hot sunlight, steam sauna, build up of impurities in blood, excess salty, sour food, fried items, excess sex too will cause pitta to rise. Too many thoughts, lack of mental peace are also the causes.

If you are taking any hormone directed medicines, ayurvedic medicines containing phytoestrogens then too this can happen.

There is nothing to worry if a single cycle comes early.

There is another reason, called pheromones. If you are staying with another girl/woman who has stronger pheromones, the cycles start synchronizing gradually. If you have spent more time in dark/strong sunlight, then too cycles get affected. The body clock which governs the timings resides in hypothalamus, and together with pituitary gland causes issuing hormonal commands to ovaries to start the cycles through drop in estrogen levels.

It is delayed cycle which is more worrisome.

Sometimes it happens, I got mine early last time and I think that was due to a bit of stress, I had a 28 hour journey! This month it was a couple days late. x
