I wouldn't name my baby Velvet, but know a woman from Ireland called Velvet. I actually think it is a very pretty name.

I just saw a lady on HGTV last night named "Velvet". I also remember having a doll in the late 60's named that too. It's a cute name. Don't let others preconceived judgements interfere. If you like the name, go for it.

I know I hate to get answers that don't say, "Oh I love it" but to be honest, I really don't like the name. It makes me think of an old woman or a red velvet cake, which I'm not too fond of.

Sure, if I wanted to see her go into the porn industry without having to go through all the hassle of using a stage name.
For a precious little girl, just go with "Violet" for heaven's sake.
For her tenth birthday, give her a kitten and name IT "Velvet."
