Mr. I dont really know what kind of situation you were involved in that made you realize that but the fact is the smartness of oneself is measured those around him. You might be smart around those people you think are stupid but in a different place with different people you might not see it that way
Of course there are plain dummies around there is no question about it, so if you want to see if you really smart, go against someone who is known to be smart, if you do outsmart him then you are smart.

I've often wondered that myself, I think it's a bit of both, I'm way smart in comparison to those who are totally stupid {most}.

Generally speaking I believe that our civilization is catering to the weaker minded and lowering all standards to "not make them fell bad" when they fail

there's no IQ test to pass to be on Y/A...so...your liable to get earth shattering mind blowing answers and/or questions...or might just scratch your head at some of the thoughts that balloon up out of the blue...that's what makes it interesting, I think
