Because of the trickle down practices and for ending the wall in Germany. Ronald Reagan cost several generations of USA people all their savings and enriched the rich more.

He was a hero for republicans because he charmed th poor in the USA out of their life savings, and they thanked him for it.

He was an actor and played the royal president well, though he was a buffoon and a fool, as such he was the model for the current moron who leads the USA.

Reagan was known as the "Great Communicator". He did have a remarkable ability to effectively reach common ground with various world leaders and diplomats, a fine example of which was the end of The Cold War and the elimination of The Berlin Wall. During his two terms, our economy was better than at any other time in the 20th century. He was very charismatic as evidenced by his extremely high approval rating. His popularity was in some small part due to his seemingly warm demeanor and that friendly face that could belong to someone's grandfather, barber or mailman; I feel that many people just felt comfortable with Reagan at the helm. During his terms, he wasn't involved in any major scandals and he even survived an assination attempt virtually unscathed. He also took a hard line with terrorists with his famous "you can run but you can't hide" quote issued as a stern warning during the mid-1980's. I guess most of us felt like we could just trust him to look out for our interests and the fate of our great country.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion and you have mine whether you agree with it or not. As far as life being difficult in the "hood", impoversed people shouldn't perpetuate the problem by reproducing in vast numbers and living off the government welfare tit. In our country, anyone can be successful if they make sacrifices and have discipline. If you raise your children with high expectations and push them to get their education, they can better themselves.

Not all of us think he was a great President. The historians are the ones responsible for writing such rhetoric. Not the American people.

You wait and see they'll write such non-sense again about the monkey at the helms of the white house now (2001 -2008) when his term is over. lol
