Very simply money, they make cash for every sale.
Whilst is is true that it's not illegalit is annoying. The difference between an over-priced CD and a concert ticket is that, generally more CDs can be produced as opposed to a concert which is a single event for limited numbers. True fans time and time again are denied going to concerts because touts group buy all thr tickets and are given forums such as e-Bay to sell them onwards at vast profit

Ticket touting for concerts isn't illegal as long as the face value of the ticket is clearly stated. Ebay allowing tickets to be sold may be morally wrong, but it is legal.

People know what they are willing to pay so it is up to them. There is nothing wrong with you selling a cd over priced on ebay, so what's the difference between that and a ticket? Ebay have stated that as long as it is within the law, people are free to choose whether they want to pay over the odds to get to a gig which they otherwise would not be able to.

Because they make money out of it - the seller pays a final value fee which is a percentage of the end price. The more they sell, the more money Ebay make. It is a shame - especially all that palava about the V8 tickets a couple of years ago.

I was actually wondering just that the other evening!

They have their own reasons I guess.

Perhaps someone in the legal department may be able to throw a light on it ? There is a margin in the law somewhere I guess.
