Lets say you see a homeless guy on the street, and lets say you take out a $10 bill and give it to him. What reason do you do this for? I know 98% have never done this, but for this question, you did it 30 minutes ago.

1. Your chances of going to heaven have increased. And besides, its just generally a "GOOD" thing to do.

2. Because he is unfortuante, and you CAN help him even if its JUST a little, no heaven points guaranteed here.

3. It just makes you feel better, but you dont know why.

4. Your own answer.

Um. Because no one deserves to be judged just because of the way they look, they way they act, the way they feel, etc.
Because there truly are people who have no way to go and by giving a little to this person, you could have made even the slightest bit of difference to his life.
Because you feel sympathy for this person. It's not easy to make it in this world, and by helping him you're also reminding yourself that you would wish for people to help you too.
Because you're doing it truly for the love of helping people and being an asset to society, not to gain "heaven points".

I'd be feeling pretty happy that I'd done my good deed for the day.

Because.........
Instead of giving him a $10 note, I would have purchased some bread, fruit and vegetables or socks or a blanket for him. Depending on what stores were around, I would give him something practical.

I once had a guy come up to me while I was putting my groceries in the boot of my car and ask for money. He also had a bottle of 'something' in a brown paper bag in one hand. I quickly looked through my groceries and offered him some muesli bars, carrots, biscuits etc and he declined!!!

I guess beggars really CAN be choosers!!!

How rude!

He only wanted to buy cigarettes / drugs / alcohol anyway.

I'd give a homeless guy 10 bucks worth of food in a heartbeat. I know it's not always the case, but altogether too often it is that they are simply attempting to feed their drug/alcohol/cigarette habits. And I do it simply because it makes me feel better, don't know why.
