Sexual Identity as you may call is identified by individuals. Individuals know the sex instinct and its functions as well as after-effects. This theory is just based on functionalism and is a valid theory because it reaps several benefits and results.

Functionalism is the survivors answer. If you are surrounderd by people who are in authority and they do not believe in what you believe, then to function, to survive you go by their rules and remain silent (and healthy).
If this is for a human development class in psych go with conflict theory, two clues 1) the word enforce 2) the word regulated

i never knew that sexual identity was regulated. i always thought that it was freedom of choice.
granted, people make choices that are not necessarily good but they still had the freedom to choose. i would like to think that anybody making premeditated choices did a lot of thinking first.
