"He’s saying that Obama never did anything for the community, never worked with anybody from the community, that nobody knows the people around him, that he’s a candidate driven by white leadership,” a prominent black activist told the New York Post.

Another activist said: "It’s driving Al crazy that Obama is as impressive and popular as he is, and he’s not happy about it. Sharpton is just terrified of being overshadowed by someone of Obama’s class and character.”

Sharpton is more concerned about being the center of attention and getting paid for it. Trace some of his organizations and see if their is any money tied from the
Clintons or any other group against Barak.

If Barak listened to him and marginalized his campaign to Blacks first, Sharpton would be all over him. Right now, Sharpton is picking a fight with him and trying to separate him. Such a crab mentality.

If Sharpton has done something for black people without having his hand out the same time then I would truly be impressed. He has not so I don't support Sharpton.

But I will support Obama and I am a Black Woman.

I think it doesn't matter to Obama either way. Al Sharpton is almost a non-factor in any major election. Sharpton is probably a little jealous that Obama has gained more credibility and support in just a few years than he could in his entire career. And I'm a Black Democrat! What does that say about old Al?

Barack Obama is on to the Presidency and wanted Sharpton to endorse him to get the votes from the Pentecostal group and activists.

Al is a clown, and Obama will run out of steam long before the election. He will get 97% of the Black vote because they always vote with extreme bias. Against the wishes of MLK jr. they vote by the color of the skin not the content of the character.

I agree with the latter. I fail to see where "not coming from the streets" means that Obama has no right as an african american to want support from and claim membership in the black communinity. That's like shooting yourself in the foot on their (Sharpton) part. What's next? The "Street Captains for Truth" committee?

Yes. He badly needs some bona fide support in the African American community - other than his credential that he is not Hillary.
