anternative to evolution?

Question

evolution.... to me it makes perfect sense probably becuase ive studied it. so i pose the question whats the alternative???
if organisms dont evolve through natural selection, survival of the fittest etc then what does happen?

can anyone come up with a better idea???
please no religious answers....

There is more evidence of evolution then there is of God and to think that God made humans is insane.

You can ignore the answers dealing with the origin of life, evolution has nothing to say about that. Evolution is a fact, not a theory. There have been two basic theories, evolution through acquired characteristics , proposed by Lamarck and evolution by natural and sexual selection as proposed by Darwin. If you can imagine a third and find evidence to support it, the evidence and argument had better be good because everything known shows that Darwin was correct in general though not always in detail.

Of course there are the fundamentalist ideas about evidence for evolution and the Darwin theory being planted somehow. Yeah, right.

An alternative to that is that the Universe is newly created from instant to instant and we are currently going through a phase that seems to indicate that evolution exists. The next phase might not include such indications. It might not include us either. Is that sufficiently do-lally?

Yes, either it is true or it isn;t and the lifes of earth was created by aliens or gods, or maybe even spores from lifes on other planets.

The organisms evolve through natural selection, however, it does indeed not say that characteristics are all fitness barometers, some may be just so characteristics, like evolved but not contributing to fitness, and so on.

A better idea? I think that there may be an underlying physical force or quantum flux that converges on living creatures and their evolution. Some of the most recognized characteristics of all animals evolved because of descent, however, they may be other reasons for the basket being all of the same fruit, such as an underlying canvas, force, or particle.

Sorry, but you are in effect asking for religious answers.
The only alternative I can think of is that everything was created.
Opinions vary between wether it was created in its current form (like Last Thursdayism - the world was created as it is, with fossils, memories and movies, last Thursday) and whether everything you learn in scienceclass is real and evolution is just gods way of doing things.
Last Thursdayism isn't falsifyable, and evolution as gods tool does not require god.

And there are two more: Literal bible interpretation, which often goes hand in hand with plainly denying evolution.
And lastly there's intelligent design, which varies from 'you don't have a video documentary of species X transforming into Y, so God might have done it' to 'I don't understand this so God must have done it'

That's it, really.
No scientific alternatives, just religeous people who can't deal with evolution, and try to sound scientific when they promote the bible as the source of all knowledge.

Evolution, as Darwin proposed it, did not include the actual mechanism of change, other than to observe that fitter individuals are favoured over those less fit. We now know it is mutations in DNA.

DNA is the wondrous molecule that holds the blueprint to all life on earth, and probably the universe. There is no alternative to its mutation, and selection of the subsequent altered phenotypes, being the driver of evolution.

Don't even bother reading the religious answers. They are mired in ignorance, and happy laying in it. Leave them up to their necks in it, but for god's sake don't give them any credence by responding to them.

There is no real and viable alternative to evolution that fits the known facts and doesn't involve superstition or religious wishful thinking (which of course dismisses most of the known facts and replaces them with cut-and-paste quotes from the Bible).
