Because they are not properly prepared for the exams. Some students do not study and understand the subject. They have sometimes an unknown fear complex. Some are afraid of mathematics, some science subjects ,some some other subjects. The fear is due to LACK OF UNDERSTANDING THE FUNDAMENTALS THOROUGHLY.Once any student understands what he is studying, then he retains it in his brain (or mind) and will face exams without any fear.
So all students Must know that the fundamentals are MOST important.
Instead of this , if the students resort to Choice questions and their answers, suppose these questions do not appear in exams they are against a wall.Even if the question is twisted lightly, though they know the answer, they can't understand it and so can't answer...the result;FAILURE.
So they must cultivate interest in the subjects they are studying and as student means one who studies ,they must STUDY( be studious..that is put in all efforts) and concentrate. Then they will retain what has been taught and what they read or STUDY.
If a student fails to cultivate this habit , in ADVANCED courses he will feel miserable.
Mere marks are not the Criterion. They should understand what they study fully.they should study entire syllabus.they should not leave any thing to chance and gamble. This period in a STUDENT LIFE IS THE MOST VALUABLE.Time can't be retrieved once lost.
In my opinion these are the reasons for failure of students in exams.

Some times luck also doesnot favor. Lack of preparation is only one of the reasons. Some want to fail.
There are some quota on the number of passing students also in some exams. In that case, it is not the fault of the examinee at all. There are a lot of better candidates always.

it's a nice question.
everybody likes to pass in the exam.no one has try to fail in the exam
if one fails continously means he/she dont like the teacher.
today, one become teacher coz he/she didnt get any job.
then,it is a very easy job to do. no one can argue with u if u r taking not nice.
teacher sud appreciate the students & there sud be good interaction between them.
many of the teachers think that, they are heros & students r villans.
if they get a chance, they may join a group with themself & kill us in an encounter.
esp., it happens in most of the engg.colleges.
this is the age to enjoy. students know their responsibilities.
but teachers cant understand that.

Bcos of various reasons as below-
- dis interest in the particular subject
- low memory
- not worked hard… worked hardly
- are slow in speed
- are not good in spellings / grammar etc
- are not able to express
- are too nervous , forget everything
- study whole night, do not sleep at all . this makes some acid accumulate in the mind which hinders memory. Will make the performance go down.
- Not to rule out – destiny.

Usually when a subject becomes something that is remotely related to the child, she loses interest. More often than not, failure has got to do with learning unwanted subjects - subjects that are never going to be used in day-to-day life. With such a situation, the child often devotes her time to other issues and starts thinking on them, which results in failure. Don't worry. All humans are perfectly OK if they can think, analyse and react.

Students fails in exams because they lack proper Study Skills. What are Study Skills?Study skills are methods and techniques that students are trained to use to facilitate learning. The success of specific study skills varies among students based upon individual learning styles. Learning good study skills is a positive step towards improving a student's performance in school and in examinations. The anxiety on the part of student to deal with the higher level of performance standards required by the parents/teachers is due to a variety of factors, which include among others, environmental and psychosocial factors; which have a direct impact on the Study Skills of the student.
Environmental factor like watching Television programmes during study time, lack of place for studies and psychosocial problems caused during developmental stages of children create disturbances in the cognitive processes of high school students, causing lack of concentration in studies and leading to inadequacy in Study Skills.
Study Skills are not automatically acquired but are learned behavior. Learning is a key process in human behavior. All learning takes place by systematic and effective behavior modification, learning can be defined as any relatively permanent change in behavior that occurs as a result of practice or prior experience. Study Skills are learned behavior, learned behavior can be explained on the basis of a) Classical conditioning theory put forward by Ivan Pavlov and further developed by J.B.Watson, b) Operant conditioning theory and systematic study of the reinforcement principle by Edward L.Thorndike and experiments of B.F.Skinner c) and also on the basis of propositions made by Albert Bandura in his Social Learning Theory.
The learning approach employed in behaviorist model could be used to modify behavior. From the behaviorist point of view, all behavior – adaptive or maladaptive is primarily learned behavior; hence employing suitable learning principles can modify it. The Score favorable factors for developing Study Skills are as follows: Goals, Motivation, interest, encouragement and guidance from Parents and teachers, timetable for home study, environment at home, training in study skills, concentration, memory improvement and remembering.
