Also if anyone has ever done the degree at Brighton Institute of Modern Music that would be cool to hear from you- is it worth it? is it boring? were you challenged?

I'm a second year LLB Law student at Leeds Met Uni, and besides the 10 hrs you actually spend in Uni i work 24 hours on top of that, maybe more. I dont how you'd get through your course only doing 2 hours! You just look stupid if you haven't done your prep. So take my advice and do the prep, and you'll have nothing to worry about.

It depends on whether you study full or part-time. Part-time is usually six to nine hours a week of lectures. Full time students should study 21 hours a week including home study to get relief from Council tax. International students on student visas must attend college or uni for a minimum of 15 hours a week. Some European unis have 18 to 24 hours of lectures a week.

I did not go to Brighton but I can tell you that to make it in music you really need a great deal of talent because you will be competing with the best in the country. Forget about "boring". You should be getting ready to study independently of teachers and take your music to a higher level if you want to make a career in it.

No idea. When I did my degree, for every module we had, each week it was 1 hour lecture and 1 hour seminar (latter included answered pre-prepared answers to questions and scenerios).

Seminar B's classes were much shorter than Seminar A's. I think we had between 6-10hours per week, and the rest for study (or other things!)

My house mate did 2 hours every other week. He was challenged. Mainly by getting up before neighbours and deciding where to get pissed.
