Even we school students dont really sing. This always happens, usually from the guys at the back of the assembly. We all just murmur, or just move the lips, or talk to each other, or wear our tie before the prefects catch us out. Sometimes, we make fun of the anthem like "Negaraku... tanah tumpahnya tahi ku...rakyat bebas...bersatu dan kentut..."

Not every morning but at every occasion when the anthem is played (softly if it is too public to sing). The anthem is neither political nor anti-someone else. To me, the national anthem reminds the singer of his/her citizenship and loyalty. I am thankful for the blessings that this great country has bestowed upon me, my parents, my children and grandchildren, and I will continue to be patriotic about it.

For those who do not know the anthem, loosely, it translates as:
My country, the land where my blood flows,
The citizens live, united and progressive,
May God bestow blessings of happiness,
May our king rule safely!

Beautiful!!

Well, not actually 'sing' it, but I can safely say that I've caught myself mumbling along a few times.. Come on guys, we sang that song every day for 6 to 10 years of our school days, it must have stucked in our mind.. Right?? ;)
