Speak it! Capitalism is the lifeblood our American way of life...the reason why we are the wealthiest, most powerful, and most influential nation on the planet...not to mention the envy of the rest of the world. I always get a good chuckle when I see drive-by news footage of the socialist protester types at WTO events, etc.
And for those of you war haters who believe the fringe Democrat party members who tell you we can't afford the war...even with the war, less than 1% of our national economy goes to defense spending.
How is this possible, considering oppressive regimes in other parts of the world spend 33% or more of their annual budget on defense?
Because of our powerful free-market economy.

There's no question that corporations are the source of livlihood for millions in the United States. Not everything corporations do is bad. But at the end of the day I think people simply want corporations to have a little social responsibility.
The entire concept of a corporation is truly in essence to avoid that. Corporations have limited liability.... the corporation is essentially a "person" under the law. So if they ever go belly up, that "person" has to pay, and the board doesn't.
There's so many different types of corporations that it's hard to summarize all of them in a group. There's pubic ones, private ones, cooperative ones.... all doing different business at different levels.
Governments usually tax corporations for tax revenue, since large public ones usually make the most money. That makes sense I think. If you tax those who are rich, and leave those who are poor to pay less taxes, you have a much more balanced society. Rich corporations can afford to pay taxes, while many poor people can't, so I don't see what's so unjust about that.
Regulation occurs when governments believe the corporations are not conducting business int he best interests of the people. For example, labelling cigarette packages dissuades people from developing a deadly addiction, but it's not really in the tabacoo corporation's best interest.
As for corporations making America great? I woudlnt' exactly say that. American (although in the essence of the word, they're not really American but more international) corporations have tended to do some nasty things to some people. A good example of that would be sweat shops, ect. Which inevitably leads to my last statement... it's not corporations people hate, but simply how SOME conduct business. They have to take more social responsibility.

"Corporations are what makes the USA great. They are our lifeblood. Without them, we are diminished as a people."
Really??? Sorry for you. Seems like you are already diminished if you think this way.
I thought God is our centre and He makes America special and great.
I have nothing against corporation but what you wrote is more then ridiculous.

I would say everyone in who bashes corporations should stop being a hypocrite and take their money out of the stock market.
But then my stocks would lose value.
If you work hard, you deserve to be successful.
If your company works hard it deserves to be successful.
Sometimes that doesn't happen, but many times it does.
Corporations represent the American Dream fulfilled.

I agree. It's odd how the liberals hate employers but love employees. The hate big business but love big taxes they pay. We have lost the three essential that gave us or any country a great economy. Mining, manufacturing and forestry

No, in fact, I'm with you. It gives me the red azz to hear people harp on corporations. Their time would be worth more if they would put that energy to good use by taking some risks themselves.
