Numerous reasons, one may be their parents treated them like second rate people when they were growing up. Maybe their parents did everything, like drugs, alcohol, poor financial choices and took their children into consideration secondly.

Another thing is how the child interacts with other children. Children are very cruel about who is the lowest on the pecking order, and will teach that poor kid about being submissive to them. Sorry to say, it happens.

Another thing is the child's education level. A poor performer will often feel like their self worth is low, while those that do well in school often have a sense of achievement.

It's hard to guess what area you are talking/questioning about, I would suggest narrowing the scope of your question next time.....ie, they feel low self worth because of ......"fill in the blank"

Its easier to answer, and you will have better answers next time. It just gives people a clue as what you are trying to ask......

Hi Junya, The lack of self worth would be having a husband make you feel worthless and no good for anything. Telling you over and over until that's all you hear. There are all types of abuse and this is the main thing that would cause lack of self worth. Been There And Done That. A Friend.

I think its because of the way a person's parents treat them. Many parents scream & yell at their children, slap them & tell them they're stupid. These parents don't realize (or care) that they are teaching their children that they aren't worth anything. Children should be treated like people. With respect. They should be listened to. A child can be taught & disciplined without giving them a sense that they're not valued.

I never thought I did anything right when I was growing up. My father once yelled at me because I 'only' got a B+. I was never 'good' enough. Its hard to overcome such an upbringing. I am insecure in relationships but managed to do well at work & that helped my self-esteem there.

I think people all suffer self esteem issues because they are the only ones who know the truth about themselves. You know what you've done wrong, how many times you've failed. When you see someone else you only see what they are projecting, and most people want to project a positive image. Deep down they are just as screwed up as you are, but you don't always know this and some how project them as being better and questioning your own worth.

Some people were told all their lives by either friends or relations that they were useless. Others do it to themselves by feeling they never accomplish anything. Society also has parameters of how success is measured and some people take that far too much to heart. There are lots of sources to bring people down, but not too many to bring them up. Good question!!!

i think you mean self esteem. we all suffer sometimes but you have to make an effort to overcome it. right now me&partner are suffering a little of this it's because you lose your job. or maybe it's the way you were brought up to see yourself when young 'by parents teachers etc. so you grow up feeling that is how you are .
