all of a sudden i lost power in my car, im lucky to be alive? apparently my timing belt snapped now the problem i have is that can a timing belt just snap or should it frey first ? my car was in for an mot on the 28th Feb, should this have been picked up and is it the garages fault.

Your timing belt can snap and it is not always checked. I've seen belts that looked good break and one's that look like they should of been changed years ago still working. The belt may of had a flaw in it that was undetectable. Belt's usually don't frey they nearly always break. In order for the to frey they'd have to be rubbing against something.

no.. timing belts just snaps! man.. now youre ready to done some internal mods.. port & polished the cyclinder heads,larger valve,titanium valvesprings.. etc

p/s: get a KEVLAR timing belt
