Not really a "remake", but Frank Miller admits that "The 300 Spartans" movie from the 60's was what gave him the idea to create his book.

Frank Miller wrote a fantasy graphic novel based off of the Battle of Thermopylae. It was called 300. The graphic novel was adapted into a film of the same name which was directed by Zack Snyder and carried Miller as an executive producer. The is an adaptation of Miller's novel, not a remake of Maté's film.
