NO it's not racist, nor am I. But if all the supposed people who answered here who THINK it is racist were to try to live their lives outnumbered by people of other races, they'd get a reality check real soon.
By the way, Drew, COLOUR is the original British spelling that was changed by Nathaniel Webster in the U.S. in the 19th Century. It seems that in every other country in the world where English is spoken and written (Hong Kong, India, The British Isles, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all the rest) COLOUR is the preferred spelling. This example of stupidity on your part is yet another reason why people from the U.S. are taken to be ignoramuses. My apologies to all those who speak and write English from countries outside the U.S.

No it's not wrong. It's the feeling of being safe. I grew up in Detroit, MI. I now live in the suburbs. I dont feel safe around all the other races. I get harrassed by police, i've had VERY nasty rumors started, that ended violently. I've gotten threats, and i am called out because of my race everyday. My nickname is actually "black kyle" which i find a bit degrading since everyone else gets a whole name. Example, if their are 2 "Mike's" one is Mike Smith the other is Mike Jones, but for me, i'm "black kyle". I want to move back to Detroit, it's like the slums, but atleast i feel safe. I know nothing is going to happen to me unless i promote/provoke it. I'm sure people feel that way about their respective races. But the main point, to avoid racisim, keep words of hate/dislike out of your everyday words. If your son hears you "Label" someone by race, he immediatly thinks it's ok. And if he only hears you say things like, "I dont like going here because of all the ____ people. He thinks thats OK to, to dislike them. It isn't limited to your children, but your friends, your family. Even if you think of yourself as unimportant, anyone within earshot only needs a little reassurance to breed more hate. And what better way than to agree with something you hear? Ever hear someone discussing ways to make moremoney? Did you listen, did you think their idea would work? Well obviously you paid attention, made a judgement to agree or disagree, if they were talking about hating another group, you'd do the same pattern, might not agree, but can you garuntee everyother person who hears it would disagree also? Just a lil food for thought, racism isn't hate crimes, nor prejudice anymore, it's giving your opinion on an entire group. Because these generations to come can build a rocket to the moon in kindergarden, but can't tell right from wrong if you stapled the rules to the back of their eyelids.

Do whatever you want as long as you aren't hurting other people. I'm more comfortable around people who are poor like me than in a room filled with millionaires. I'd also feel a bit more comfortable surrounded by people close to my age rather than people 30 years older than me. There's nothing weird about that.

You would be foolish just to trust and like people just because they are of the same race, snakes comes in all forms. Learn to treat people like individuals and handle them that way. If a ************ is an asshole then treat them that way, but if a guy is minding his business, then that's cool. I don't think it wrong to want to live with all asian people people or whatever, just foolish and backwards because I personally just want to live who whoever is positive and that doesnt steal, cheat, lie, kill, backbite, o9r whatever, I couold care less what a ************ looks like.

As long as you don't dislike or don't disrespect other people, it's natural that you prefer to be with your own kind of community. It happens to all people of any colour and culture!!
Black stay a lot with black people, chinese prefer chinese, that's nature!

Wrong? Maybe not. We often choose to live where we feel comfortable.
Racist? Maybe not. But you ARE stereotyping both your race/culture and others.

Who is to say what is right or wrong for you as long as you aren't infringing on anyone else's right to do as they please? Personally, this makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better for you to do the complete opposite so you can come to understand other races better. I hope that someday you will come to see that people are people no matter what their differences are.
