Having toads may be a pain, but you won't have any mosquitos... And they only croak through mating season, which is a month long. The rest of the year they are pretty quiet.

If it's a year long thing (or even summer long), it's likely not toads, but some frog species.

Toads only live where there is stagnant water and moist ground. So, if you have toads, and you get rid of toads, you'll end up with mosquitoes. By the thousands.

Then you'll want to know how to get rid of the mosquitos.

Consider yourself lucky, I say. A lot of places, toads have almost gone extinct. We used to have the same problem and it would drive up the walls batty, but then one summer they were gone and it was awful. The silence was worse than the loudness.

They havn't come back, and its been about three years since I've seen a toad in our area.

Not to mention they were there first, so if you really want to get rid of them, I would say move. Because there is no way to truely make them stop. I suggest keeping windows closed, fans blowing, and maybe a sterio next to your head. That would drown out the sound and you could sleep. Or try using ear plugs.

You can....
a) poison your yard to the point that it affects the health of the toads, the other animals in the habitat of your yard, and possibly even yourself.
b) get a cat or dog that may or may not be interested in chasing toads (remember, toads may make your cat or dog sick if eaten)
c) figure out what on your property is attracting them (a pond or pool perhaps?) and get rid of it.
d) learn to live with it. Toads are a sign of a healthy ecosystem. I grew up here in Florida and I can't sleep without having frogs or toads singing in the background. When they dissappear, it's a sign of ecological collapse, and it's spooky. If you don't want the toads, you probably won't want snakes, but a few garter snakes in the yard may be able to make a dent in them.... I just think about all the bugs they eat.........

are you shure they are toads, toads are ground dwelling creatures. if you have any water source maybe like tires that can hold standing water dump them out, it may be them getting to gether to spawn. if you have a cat or a dog, DO NOT let them out near the toads, Toads are very poisionus to dogs and can kill them in matter of hours. im shure they affect cats in the same way. call a exterminator place and ask them for more info. Maybe you can call the local farm shop to they may be able to help. good luck.

here is a website below that will help you but I don't know if you want to do that. you can probably reduce the numbers by removing any areas they can hide or live in wood piles etc. and remove any standing water in which they need for their babies. you will also have to get your neighbors or any surrounding areas to do the same. but be prepared for your insect population to dramatically rise and that can lead to a whole new type of music at night. you might try blocking the noise out somehow ear plugs, music, one of those ocean sounding machines etc.
