i just don't understand why people on yahoo answers are always saying rap sucks...
As a fan of rap i just don't see what the problem is, not all rappers are bad, and it all depends on the mood ur in...
obviously if im getting ready for a game and i wanna get pumped i would listen to crunk music, lyrically it sucks but it does put you in the mood to whoop a$$
other than that i like to listen to rappers that puts you in a cetain state of mind
Not all rappers talk about the money, hoes, or how many times they got shot or been to prison (50 cent), or how much drugs they deal (rick ross)
there are some rappers out there that actually preach about unity and corruption like nas, common, or talib kwali...
then there are just guys are just lyrically good and know how to make music like T.I, Cassidy, Cory Gunz...
i just dont see why people judge rap and think so negatively about it... don't think of all rappers being idiots that just know how to rhyme

Bruh, easy answer: You can't give the mind what it can't digest.

YOU and I BOTH KNOW - it's a culture thing. Why ask a question or be offended to people who are shallow, close-mind, and have NO exposure to our culture? Seriously, Katt Williams (comedian) said in his stand up: "Stop being mad at haters. That's their job. If you have 14 haters, you need to find out how to make it to 16 before the summer gets here".
Just like I can't stand Rock N Roll - most of them are admitted drug addicts, child molesters, Satan worshippers, or 120 yrs old trying come up with a new hit.

Word is bond - each one, teach one. Like Bebos - "One Love"

Well, rap music in the '70s is different from the rap music you hear these days. Rap music in the '70s are rife with activism, and they are still revolutionary. I don't think anyone can ever compare Snoop Doggy Dogg with Public Enemy. These days it's about women, money, and drugs, and what have you, Public Enemy are very different, they are still the leaders of the pack.

Depends, man, maybe they havn't heard hip hop like mos def and stuff. you must admit that the stuff on the radio is damn repititive. Too much stress is put on the lyrical content, people kinda forget that it is music. Artists like roots manuva are more cryptic in their message and don't try to preach, they concentrate on the actual music and you must appreciate that. the truth is that Hip hop has been given a bad name by people who lack musical credibilllity and who are out to make a quick buck riding on some perverted iconic new world usa suck my d*ck ticket. I hate people who mess with music, it's art not an industry.

I agree not all rap is bad, but sometimes people get tired of rap talking about the same old things...women,drugs and guns....I like the rap from the 80's much better as it is more positive, and sends a more positive message.

For some people the objective matter of rap makes them not like it. Another reason maybe they just don't like it in general for some people there is a type of music that they will not like no matter what and rap.

You have the right idea. And these things can be said of all types of music. If it makes you happy, or ready to whoop*** then good! That is what matters! Right?

its called hate not just by white people but by haters ...in order to be a rapper you have to be credible you see everyone cant speak on everything...so those who cant are mad at those who can...Example do you know that guy who can say anything and people dont even cringe or grin but when others speak the same people look at them crazy...its credibilty and the humility to share ones soul...hip hop aint dead its just got money and do what it wants..
