Hi~We have some problems with this car. First of all, last year towards the end of the year we got the transmission done when we got our oil change - so it wasn't really serviced, it was just whatever the lube place does and ever since then it kind of stutters when you drive it, and makes a ping noise.

Like dumbasses (excuse me but it's true) we never got it fixed. The check engine light came on and now it is blinking randomly. It is just the yellow check engine light.

Generally the car runs fine, other than stuttering a bit when driving. The idle is generally fine (though it has stalled out once or twice when it is cold in the morning)

There is still power in the engine.

Now what I want to know is:
1) Where do we take a car to get the transmission serviced? If you know a place in Las Vegas - that would be great... but generally - just a transmission shop?

2) Would the trannie cause the above problems?

3) Any other reason the check engine light would be on AND flashing?

Last week when the check engine light came on, I checked the oil and it was low. It was about 400 miles over needing to be changed - so I added oil, and the next day the light went off.

Now the light is on again - and only randomly flashes. Normally it's just on.

With the flashing light, it's telling you there is a problem that needs to be looked at right away. So take it to a place like auto-zone and get the error codes read.

Some lube places just drain the trans fluid out and refill. The best way is to have it power flushed. That way the fluid in the torque converter will also be changed. You can look in the Vegas yellow pages for a lube place that will do the power change. When you talk to them ask if their fluid change will also replace the fluid in the torque converter.
