I mean how do you judge if one's acting is good?

Can an actor become the best actor if he's playing in a Comedy movie instead of a Darma movie?

Can we say that - only certain role in the movie can lead the actor to the Oscars?

i think the oscars is pretty lame. its mostly about money and how bankabl a performer you are. you cant win with a comedy or an obscure film. and you have to cry at some point in the movie to win. and in your personal life be free from controversy.

it annoys me in the oscars how the best actor is often in the best film. its like they are admitting they cant tell the difference.

first all the members of the acadamy vote for their favorites, from the beging is subjetive, then choice the nominees, and watch again the movies in dvd , and vote againg, but sometimes they give the oscar to someone who lost the year before, or the favorite or most popular.
Example: The movie crouching tiger, hidden dragon, win in Best Foreign Language Film, so that way didn't win the best movie, Tom Hanks didn't win his third oscar, that way Jack Nicholson(who was nominated for the comedy " As good as it gets") is the actor with more oscars. And rumor has it the Frank Sinatra win his oscar thanks to the mob.
So i agree with the nominations but the actually winners not so much

A best actor should be someone who totally created a character from head to toe and lived it out. They should awe the audience and it should be a performance that stand out among all movies that year.

A good actor is someone who can make the audience feel exactly what the character is feeling. A good actor is also good at any roles.

1-you feel it when the acting is good,i.e so natural that's it
no acting
2-to make people laugh is more difficult than to make them
laugh
3-yes,there are such roles, when you read the subject, you
think before seeing the film, that's an oscar role, actors feel it
and they fight to get the part. For instance, Julia Roberts
in Erin Brockovich.

I don't think there's any firm criteria. It just depends on who the voters liked the best and which performance made the biggest impact. Sometimes, in retrospect, it becomes clear that the wrong person won (i.e. Roberto Begnini).

When the acting is so good..that you forget that they are acting and believe their character fully.

I think Phil Seymor Hoffman in Capote was amazing!
