I am a writer and landscape artist.
Do you know that after a while, one landscape begins to look just like another? It can, anyway.
And writer's block is no small thing when your lively hood depends on it. But the single, greatest thing I do when the juices are all dried up. When my paintbrush doesn't have one more tree, barn or anything in it. I pack a lunch, nothing fancy (I save that for other times by the lake or ocean or mountain top or my favorite a quiet meadow when I'm not alone) and take it to any local cemetery I happen to be near. I arrive at my chosen location around noon, spread my food and drink out on the seat in my car, have no music on, and eat. Now the windows are down, birds a signing, squirrel ls are doing their thing and I think, 'how lucky I am to be here today". Finished eating, I get out and walk amongst the stones to view dates, sayings, whatever and soon my mind begins to run.
WATCH OUT...juices are beginning to run and, OH NO, I do have another painting in me.
Want you creativity to flow? Think about this activity. Take a moment and wait. Mr. Creativity will knock on you car door before you know it.
Incidentally, I believe that you can tell a lot about a town by how it maintains it's graveyards. Try it.

It depends on the context in which I'm trying to create. If it's a work situation (I'm an advertising copywriter) I'll go to a Target or other big, bright retail space where there are a lot of colors, textures, tactile things that I can interact with. If I'm writing or working on something creative in my own time, I'll relax and meditate, put on some music and just let the thoughts flow. Places I'm often hit with inspiration -- in the shower or driving alone in the car.

UNBLOCK IT . the best way is like you have an exam next week and you have a deep feeling on your mind, a nagging feeling to do something about it although you know your subject matter.....unblock it by doing the opposite, for instance,if you are thinking about black colors in your creativity flow, think white....also, aggressive exercises..the tenth lap may enlighten

I get out the music of the masters and think while they play. Polonaise, Warsaw Concherto, Libistraum. I have a tape of Dinner Music.. that works too. The music for fiddler on the roof is very relaxing and opens up your feelings. Piano music by Liberace or Ferrante and Teicher, Roger Williams is really beautiful, or maybe some Oldies from the 50/60s if I'm in a reflective mood. My favorite song in the world is Clair d' lune by Debussy.

I'm a night person. After everyone goes to bed is my time. That is usually when I write. No interruptions, door bells or phone calls.
I enjoy being alone with myself and with my thoughts.
During the day, I keep a note pad handy and jot down my creative thoughts. When I'm in the shower is when I get my most brilliant thoughts. I keep a note pad in the bathroom too.
Guess that sounds kind of silly.
I need complete silence when I write. I guess that is why the great writers like to take off to parts unknown to do their writing.
Hope this helps some..

If you've been at it a long time, sometimes you just have to step back from it for awhile, and not think about it. Do other creative things.
If you're coming back into it, try doing things to ease you back into your field. Things that are creative, and along the same lines.
Both of these work best when you blow out all the cobwebs, and keep your mind clear.

I read! I'll listen to music or the radio. It's okay to close out the world and meditate but sometimes we need inspiration that comes from some where else. I produce music and sometimes I have to watch MTV and BET to see what people are consuming and then I put my creative spin on it.

Exercise and meditation. Emptying the mind then letting it flow from nothingness into art.
