I think it varies from person to person (same with women).... but I think in most cases the other vows were neglected first.
If both people in the relationship were concentrating on the vows they took to have and hold each other, to love and cherish each other, to honor and respect each other... then the part about forsaking all others is about as difficult as breathing. When you are crazy in love with someone, that person is always at the forefront of your attention.
In short, I think adultery is a symptom of a failed marriage, rather than a cause. (In most cases.)
This doesn't mean the relationship can't be re-built, but it would be better if both people had concentrated on keeping it strong before it ever got to that point.

I think a lot of men are weak when it comes to sex, especally if things at home have gotten routine and start being taken for granted. And I think a BIG part of the problem lies with the women out there that know this and shamelessly play on their egos and make them think they can give them everything they ever needed and more...and that the wife isnt good enough. It makes them start ot question their marriage and their life. Women like this know exactly what they are doing and they see a married man as a keeper...it doesnt matter if he is someone elses keeper...they want them for theirself and will do and say anything to get what they want. I think if more women would have more respect for other women and for marriages and leave a married man alone and not feel his head with absurd thoughts, there would be much less cheating. Just MY opinion.

When guys start using their little heads instead of their brains, then they use any excuse to go astray. It don't hurt to say that aggressive females looking for so call stable men instead of finding single guys are a part of adultery too.

Thinking that the grass is greener on the other side.
Lack of communication, I say get back into the honeymoon phase and work on leaving it in this stage.

An inability to express needs and desires with the wife. Or maybe just plain selfishness.

It's when the wife no longer cared about her appearance that the husband once admired.

Varies by guy. We're not all alike. I guess it could be things like not being treated well, or emotional problems.
