I swear every single time I get myself comfortable on the couch ready to read a good book, my partner will want to start talking to me. Not just once, it's like I cant even get through a paragraph before I have to stop and listen again. I have my asked my partner if he would like me to put the book down so we can talk and he has replied "Cant you do both, I thought women could multi task". Even if women could, im sure this is impossible to do?? Do you agree?

You are so right; in fact, when I'm reading, I dont hear my husband at all, and I've had to tell him to prod me, if he expects an answer.

Well I'm no woman and I can do both, but that doesn't make me special either. I can play a video game... listen to the TV and talk to my partner all at the same time. It's just somthing I'm able to do. Your partner in all do honesty is being a little rude. He should ask you if it would be alright to talk BEFORE you go to read.. or make his desire clear before you settle down. Honestly you should make this clear to him... inform him you are not a computer... that you enjoy reading.. or talking.. but not both at the same time.

That is humanly impossible. Your brain is processing words and if you try to talk while reading you will just say what youre reading out loud lol. Thats why when I try to read I make sure that my husband is doing something that he wants to do too like work on the pc etc, after that we have coffee and discuss it and an arguement is avoided... try it lol.

He's not much of a reader, is he?
This is a typical response from a person who doesn't read and finds your fascination with the written word threatening to himself. When you read, you're in another world that he can't participate in. So next time, ask him if he'd like you to read aloud, so he can feel included (yes a little bit of sarcasm won't hurt.)

I can't do it at least I can't and still get something from the reading. I usually get real quiet when I am reading. Sounds like he just needs attention.
