Well, the truth is, you cannot consider someone as a friend without love. True friends are those who could render you unconditional love and compassion. Once love is gone, their will be no such a beautiful word as friendship. Love--any kind of love--though, often begins with friendship. As love flourishes, strong friendship begins to develop. So, I think, there is nothing to chose what is more important between the two. Because as you can see, they're mutual, and we need them both,

No... I think first there needs to be friendship. Its entirely possible to love someone... but not like them at the same time. Without friendship first.. love won't grow.

You need both (if you can get them).
And reading between the lines in your question: It is extremely dangerous for you emotionally to cut off your friends once you get a significant other. Spouse and children becomes a priority but that does not mean you should deny yourself the blessings of friends.

I don't think you have to choose between the two...you need friends to live...they are part of our lives....i don't think you'll have a great life without the....and love is part of friendship...making friends doesn't just to have friends you have to love them for you guys to have a great relationship...trust them and respect them just like loving someone special...your love one should also be your friend....that way you two can have a great relationship...no pretention...as sometimes when you love you want to be perfect but when your around your friends you are you no pretentions just you....

I think that love and friendship are synonymous (same meaning) because you can't be friends with someone without loving them and you can't love someone and not be their friend.
So, they are of equal importance.

Most definately, friends will more often than not see you less when they find love, so you need to have love yourself to fill the void.

Only in the first throes of romantic love; but once that fades, you're gonna miss your friends.
